Let's live AFCON 2021 by celebrating CamerExcellence!

[CamerExcellence]-After several postponements, Cameroon holds its CAN. It is joy in the hearts of many Cameroonians. Especially today, date of the opening match of the AFCON 2021 with a match between Cameroon and Burkina Faso. From 9 January 2022 to 6 February 2022, the whole of Africa will vibrate to the rhythm of football with the six Cameroonian cities of Yaoundé, Douala, Limbé, Buéa, Bafoussam and Garoua as the centre of gravity.

A moment of celebration of the skills of each country in the field of football. The qualified nations have chosen their best players to represent their national flag and thrill millions of fans.

A tremendous opportunity for each qualified state to activate and deploy Nation branding and communication actions on their different assets and strengths. This is a great opportunity for communication and branding for the host country, Cameroon, and in addition to the prowess of its players on the pitch, Cameroon will gain a lot of visibility.

Spotlight on Cameroon

For this Total Energies AFCON 2021, the African Football Confederation indicates that it has received 2,035 accreditation requests from 52 countries around the world.
Still according to CAF figures, 1,350 media are accredited, including 941 foreign media. At the local level, 409 accreditations were granted to media and international correspondents of Cameroonian nationality.

Among these foreign media, many have deployed a strong team for the trip to the cradle of our fathers. The BBC is in the lead with 33 accreditations. RFI, 30 accreditations, Africa 24 (25 people), France 24 (23 people) or Agence France Presse with 14 people. Among the international media with large audiences that have confirmed their presence in Cameroon are BeIN Sports, Canal+ Afrique, CGTN Africa, CCTV Africa, Deutsche Welle, Le Monde, L’Équipe, Voice Of America and Reuters, to name but a few.

What a great opportunity for visibility and communication for Cameroon! But, apart from football, what should we show the foreigners who are flocking to Cameroon by the thousands at the moment?

Cameroon is certainly an Africa in miniature with an exceptional, rich and diverse gastronomy (The best in Africa by the way. Some private actors have planned a gastronomy fair for this purpose in Yaounde. Do not hesitate to go there). But, in addition to its cultural and tourist wealth, what else should we show to our foreign friends and brothers?

The Smart Click Africa association, in collaboration with the e-Reputation and Personal branding firm ICT Media STRATEGIES, has chosen to present Cameroonian talents to these foreigners, Africans and to the world. Because, the country of Samuel Eto’o and Roger Milla is not only the cradle of the best footballers, but also a land of talents in many fields

Do you know Vera Songwe, the UN SGA and ECA Executive Secretary; Francis Ngannou, the strongest man in the world; Albert G. Zeufack, the World Bank’s chief economist for Africa; Hippolyte Fofack, the Chief Economist of Afreximbank, Manu Dibango the famous saxophonist or even those many other brilliant Cameroonians who, sometimes without much noise, do a wonderful job internationally to make the world a better place?

During this Total Energies AFCON 2021, we will therefore, in addition to football, celebrate these talents which make Cameroonian excellence. We present to the world this other face of Cameroon: a breeding ground and a reservoir of diverse competences where every African State and the world can drink to achieve feats, success and excellence.

As a Nation, we have the duty and opportunity to remind the world that we are a united and indomitable people, capable of displaying this fighting spirit that has enabled us in the past to win great battles.”, advised the President of the Republic, Paul BIYA, in his traditional message to the Nation on 31 December 2021.

During this competition, we will therefore, in our own way, remind the world that Cameroonian talents shine, excel and have this fighting spirit that allows them to reach the top.

We will particularly focus on those Cameroonians who, far from home, are the pride of Cameroon.

For all Cameroonians, CamerExcellence is also an opportunity to further inspire young people by telling the story and/or presenting Cameroonian figures and icons who, through their hard work, self-sacrifice and determination, have succeeded and made Cameroon proud.

The deployment will be more on the web with some visibility actions on the ground with awards and prizes. I therefore invite you to follow the CamerExcellence website (www.camerexcellence.com)as well as its social networks Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok and Instagram (@CamerExcellence) where portraits, visuals and some videos of these Cameroonian icons will be regularly posted during this competition.

Portraits and visuals that we would have liked to see displayed in airports and in the main streets of Cameroon at the moment. It is a pity that this is not (yet?) the case. Let’s not despair. In any case, in our own way, we will do it on the web and social networks.

Through the hashtag#CamerExcellence, you too can share media content, photos and images of Cameroonian icons and figures whose skills, careers, actions and achievements inspire and deserve to be celebrated. So, let’s celebrate Cameroonian excellence together.

Just as I invite you to designate the Cameroonianwho, in your opinion, have done the most to honour the Cameroonian flag at the international level in 2021.

Let us value Cameroonian excellence!
