[CamerExcellence] – It is an obsession on his part to see sub-Saharan Africa developed. Albert Zeufack is the World Bank’s Chief Economist for the Africa region. He is the very first African appointed to this position.

He is the head of the World Bank’s Office of the Chief Economist for the Africa Region. The chamber proposes solutions for the development of Black Africa. This is by providing economists around the world with research articles on sub-Saharan Africa. Roughly speaking, it is at this level that the World Bank examines projects and decides on the budgets allocated to them. His main targets are therefore African leaders.

Albert Zeufack is also a member of the UN network for sustainable development, a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the Charter of Natural Resources (Oxford). He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Natural Resources Governance Institute (NRGI) and a member of the Board of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC).

Scheduled to lead

The Chief Economist held several positions before being appointed to head the World Bank’s Office of the Chief Economist for the Africa Region in 2016. These include the Director of the Global Centre of Expertise on Macroeconomics and Public Finance and the leader of a World Bank community of experts on rent-seeking economies.

He has held various positions within the Africa, East Asia and Pacific, and Europe and Central Asia Regions. Between 2008 and 2012, he worked in a Malaysian sovereign wealth fund, as chief economist and director of research and strategy. It should be noted that it was thanks to the “Young Professionals” recruitment program in 1997 that he joined the World Bank.

Academically, Albert Zeufack holds a doctorate in economics from CERDI-University of Clermont-Ferrand (France). He also holds a postgraduate degree in economic analysis and policy from the University of Yaoundé (Cameroon).
