(CamerExcellence) –<\/strong> Thanks to Eric Salvador Tchouyo, Cameroon is the world champion of classic Scrabble in French. A double honor for Cameroon, because the two finalists of this competition were Cameroonians. The duel took place on October 26, 2021 in Aix-les-Bains in Savoie, France, during the World Classic Scrabble Championships.<\/p>\n\n

The two finalists have known each other for years and practice club Scrabble several times a week in Yaound\u00e9 and Douala. Eric Salvador Tchouyo, the captain of the Cameroonian Scrabble team, faced Am\u00e9d\u00e9e Assomo, himself president of the national federation. The latter wins the first round, Eric Salvador Tchouyo the second and wins in the third in 20 minutes. Two words make the difference: “Kawa\u00ef<\/em>” (cute in Japanese) with two letters worth 10 points each, the k and the w. And “Ordering<\/em>“, in nine letters, reports RFI.<\/p>\n\n

Scrabble is a brainstorming board game. Two to four players, seven letters of the alphabet to be drawn. Objective: score the most points by placing words on the grid in front of you. <\/p>\n\n

\u00c9ric Salvador Tchouyo, an accountant by profession, devotes all his free time to this passion. And prides itself on knowing all the words in the French language from two to nine letters. \u201cTo get to this level, you have to work, read, write, you have to make possible combinations. There are times when you can wake up at night at 2 a.m. because a word is running through your mind. You have to use a dictionary to sometimes check the definitions to better fix the words in the mind. We breathe the words,<\/em> \u201dhe told RFI.<\/p>\n\n

Cameroon’s first scrabble world title<\/h2>\n\n

This is the first time that Cameroon have won the World Classic Scrabble title in French. But the country is already three-time African champion in this discipline.
