[CamerExcellence] – A style full of poetry. A voice that flows and coaxes the ear. Two assets that undoubtedly make Aboubakar Abbo the winner of the “Best Reportage Award of the International Technical and Style Writing Competition Africa Zone”, since March 02, 2022.
The event was organised by the Al Hakma Group of Saudi Arabia, from 25 to 26 February 2022. It is the platform “Médiascopie” that announced the information. The information was shared on the Facebook account of the winner.
“The aim was to produce a major report on the daily life of the inhabitants of Yamoussoukro, Abidjan and Bouaké in Côte d’Ivoire. 60 journalists from 40 African countries took part in the competition. The candidates were evaluated on style, content and form“, reports Mediascopie.
If you look at the criteria of the judging, any subscriber to the 8:30 p.m. news on the CRTV or to the national radio news would not have had the slightest doubt that Aboubakar Abbo would win. And it is not the management of CRTV that would deny this opinion.
“Welcome to the big arena!
At 27, Aboubakar Abbo has all the makings of an accomplished career. This is far from being the result of chance. After six years spent as a reporter at the Regional Direction CRTV Littoral, in Douala, he puts down his microphone on the set of CRTV premium, on September 11, 2015.
His selflessness and dedication leave no one indifferent. Regular reports on the 8:30 pm news are made, with a particular style. Performances that bode well for the future.
On May 1, 2018, he received the award for Best Reporter of CRTV at the National Channel Awards. One year later, it was the CRTV Littoral Regional Directorate that honoured him. He was made the best employee of the directorate.
The Director-General of CRTV, Charles Ndongo, will surprise many. On June 26, 2020, Aboubakar Abbo was promoted to the position of head of the edition and production department of CRTV News. He is only 25 years old. In his installation speech to the newly promoted staff, the Director-General of CRTV had these words:
“I welcome to the big arena those who have distinguished themselves with passion and abnegation in the regions. I am obviously talking about Augustin Gizana or Aboubakar Abbo. They are proof that performance can flourish everywhere and that recognition always ends up consecrating deserving workers…”.
Charles Ndongo had thus gathered all the necessary conditions to favour the blossoming of this young talent. And the latter intends to blossom before the eyes and ears of the world in Doha, Qatar, during the final of this international Grand Prix scheduled for September 19, 2022.
And it is not all for the young Cameroonian journalist who was also elected a few days ago by Internet users best reporter. With a total of 2276 VOTES, Facebook subscribers have judged Aboubakar Abbo to be the favourite reporter for 2021 in Cameroon. (Results recorded in January 2022 after 72 hours of voting.)
Prizegiving is scheduled on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 2:00 p.m at Canal Olympia Yaoundé during a Meet & Greet conference on the theme: “Media and development of local sport”.
